Rui Song received his Bachelor degree in Telecommunications, Master and Ph.D. degrees in Signal and Information Processing from Xidian University, Xi'an, china, in 2003, 2006 and 2009, respectively. Since 2010, Dr. Rui Song has been an Associate Professor in School of Telecommunication Engineering at Xidian University. He is now a member of Image and Video Processing Lab in State Key Laboratory of Integrated Service Networks, and is responsible for video group. His research interests include video coding algorithms, VLSI architecture design for image and video processing, IP design of video codec IP, Pre- and Post-processing of High Definition Camera. He has published 16 research papers and have got 4 patents.
From 2013 to 2014, he is a Postdoctoral Scholar in Professor C.C.Jay-Kuo's Group, Ming Hsieh Department, Viterbi School of Electric Engineering, University of Southern California, USA.

The Xidian Visual Information Processing Lab was set up in school of telecommunications engineering in Xidian University. The lab was continuously doing research on image and video compression algorithm, VLSI architecture design technology for image and video compression, image and video super-resolution, and image quality assessment algorithm. In recent years, we started our research on the comprehension of visual information, and integrating the visual importance factor into image and video compression.
