Prof. Chung-Hsien Wu is the professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and the deputy dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He received the Outstanding Research Award of National Science Council in 2010 and the Distinguished Electrical Engineering Professor Award of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering in 2011, Taiwan. He is currently associate editor of IEEE Trans. Audio, Speech and Language Processing, IEEE Trans. Affective Computing, ACM Trans. Asian Language Information Processing, and the Subject Editor on Information Engineering of Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers. Dr. Wu serves as the Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA) Distinguished Lecturer and Speech, Language and Audio (SLA) Technical Committee Chair in 2013~2014. His research interests include multimodal emotion recognition, speech recognition/synthesis, and spoken language processing. Dr. Wu is a senior member of IEEE and a member of International speech communication association (ISCA). He was the President of the Association for Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (ACLCLP), Taiwan, in 2009~2011. He was the Chair of IEEE Tainan Signal Processing Chapter in 2007~2009 and has been the Vice Chair of IEEE Tainan Section since 2009.

Lab Introduction
The Multimedia Human-Machine Communication (MHMC) Lab at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, was founded in 1997 and led by Prof. Chung-Hsien Wu. The mission of the MHMC Lab is to advance the state-of-the-art technology in multimedia, especially speech, language and Video signals for Human-Machine Communication. The research areas in MHMC Lab include
1. Multilingual speech recognition
2. Emotion recognition of speech, text and facial expression
3. Personalized speech synthesis
4. Mobil-based chatting system
5. Computer Assisted Speech/Sign Language Learning for the Speech-Hearing Impaired
MHMC Lab is the co-organizer of 2010 ISCSLP and APSIPA ASC 2013.
