Lab Director (or Principal Investigator)

PI: Dr. Qin Jin

Dr. Qin Jin received her Ph.D. degree in Language and Information Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University, USA in 2007, the Master and Bachlor degrees both in Computer Science from Tsinghua University in 1999 and 1996 respectively. Dr. Jin is now an Associate Professor at School of Informaton, Remin University of China (RUC). Before joining RUC, Dr. Jin was a research faculty at Carnegie Mellon University from Feb. 2007 to March 2012 and a research scientist at IBM China Research Lab from April 2012 to December 2012. While in the position as research faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Jin was Principal Investigator on the project "Automatic Speech Recognition" funded by ARFL/RIEC and the project "Integrated Robust Open-set Speaker Identification Systems" funded by ARFL. Dr. Jin had also played a central role as key personnel in the ITIC funded "Far-Field Speaker Identification" project, as well as in the DARPA funded project GALE ("Global Autonomous Language Exploitation"). Dr. Jin has participated in numerous evaluations related to speech /audio analysis, such as NIST Rich Transcription evaluation, NIST CLEAR evaluation, GALE evaluation, NIST SRE evaluations, and more. Dr. Jin was recently nominated as the new member in the standing committee of NCMMSC (National Conference on Man-Machine Speech Communication).

Dr. Jin has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Jin has served on the Technical Review Committee for ICME, ASRU, ICASSP and INTERSPEECH etc.. She also has served as a reviewer for various journals including IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, ACM Transactions on Asian Language Information Processing, and IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks etc.

Lab Introduction
