Sheng-Jyh Wang is a professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. He received the B.S. degree in electronics engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 1984, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, USA, in 1989 and 1994, respectively.
In 1995, he joined the Department of Electronics Engineering at National Chiao Tung University. During 2005-2006, he was the secretary general of Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Association, Taiwan. During 2007-2010, he was a director of Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Association, Taiwan. During 2007-2009, he was the director of the EECS International Program at National Chiao Tung University.
His current research projects mainly cover the following topics:
1. Image processing: develop algorithms for image quality improvement, image content analysis, and image editing.
2. Computer vision: develop algorithms for image segmentation, video surveillance, 3-D scene analysis, and objet detection/recognition.
3. Machine learning: apply supervised learning and unsupervised learning techniques for image/video content analysis.
