CONFERENCE INFORMATION SOCIAL PROGRAM

The Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA) is a new association and it promotes all aspects of research and education on signal processing, information technology, and communications. The field of interest of APSIPA concerns all aspects of signals and information including processing, recognition, classification, communications, networking, computing, system design, security, implementation, and technology with applications to scientific, engineering, and social areas.

Getting Around

From Airport to City Area

By Car
The CBD/Orchard Road area of Singapore is 20 kilometres west of Changi Airport. The major route from the airport is the East Coast Parkway. Journey time to the Singapore business district is about 20-30 minutes.

By Train
Journey time to central Singapore is 30 minutes. Trains run every 10-15 minutes from around 5.30am until 11pm. The MRT train station at Changi Airport is in Terminal 2. Transfer from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 via the SkyTrain.
Note - Fare: approx SGD$1.60.

By Taxi
Taxis are available from stands outside each terminal's Arrivals level. Follow the signs. Journey time to central Singapore is around 20-30 minutes.
Note - Fare: approx SGD$20 with an additional airport surcharge of SGD$3-5 depending on the time of day.

Limousine Taxis are also available at a higher price. They can be booked at the Limousine Taxi Service desks in the Arrivals Hall of each terminal.
Note - Fare: fixed rate SGD$35.

By BusThe Airport Shuttle Service serves all hotels in Singapore. It can be booked at the counters in each terminal's Arrivals Hall. A return booking can also be made at this time for pickup from any hotel.
Note - Fare: SGD$7 one way.

The public bus service number 36 runs from the airport's Basement level to Orchard Road. The service operates from 6 am to midnight with a journey time of about an hour.
Note - Fare: approx SGD$1.50.

From City/Airport to Biopolis

By Car
Turn into North Buona Vista Drive which is along North Buona Vista Road. Ample parking space is available at Basement 3 of Car Park Entrance A and B. Free parking is available on Friday evenings (after 7 pm) and the whole day on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

By Train
Alight at Buona Vista MRT station and walk or take the free Biopolis Shuttle Bus service.

By Taxi
Getting a taxi in Singapore is a cinch. If you are taking a taxi from the airport to Biopolis, it will cost approximately S$25 and take you approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Taking a taxi from the city area (where our official hotels are located) to Biopolis will cost approximately S$18-S$20 and will take you approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

December 14, Tuesday

Welcome Reception will be held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore on December 14. This social dinner is complimentary for all registrants. Buses would be arranged to ferry attendees from Biopolis to Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Buses would also be arranged to drop attendees off at the nearest MRT station (Outram Park MRT Station) at the end of the reception.

December 15, Wednesday

APSIPA Reception will be held at the Jumbo Seafood, East Coast Park on December 15. This social dinner is complimentary for all non-student registrants; student registrants who are interested in attending this dinner would have to purchase a ticket. Buses would be arranged to ferry attendees from Biopolis to Jumbo Seafood. Buses would also be arranged to drop attendees off at City Hall MRT station, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Copthorne King's Hotel at the end of the reception.

December 16, Thursday

Conference Banquet will be held at the Megu Hall on December 16. This social dinner is complimentary for all non-student registrants; student registrants who are interested in attending this dinner would have to purchase tickets. Buses would be arranged to ferry attendees from Biopolis to Megu Hall. Buses would also be arranged to drop attendees off at City Hall MRT station, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Copthorne King's Hotel at the end of the banquet.

December 17, Friday

There will be no social night dinners for delegates on December 17. Buses would be arranged to drop attendees off at City Hall MRT station, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Copthorne King's Hotel at the end of the day's program.
